What is markup?

Markup is the percentage added to your cost price to reach your selling price. For example, if something costs £10 and you sell it for £15, your profit is £5 and your markup is 50%.

Is markup the same as profit margin?

No. Markup is based on cost price. Profit margin is based on selling price. The numbers can look similar but they are calculated differently.
